Referral Rock is a third party that functions as Shift4's referral system.

Key term to be aware of: There is at least $10,000 processing minimum in live transaction volume with Shift4 through a SkyTab POS system within 120 days of the referral date.

It is very important to note that if a referral isn't submitted correctly, Equip will NOT be asking Shift4 to make an exception and pay out your referrer their 2k anyway. There are quite a few important steps involved in a referrer submitting a referral, and it is critical that you make sure your referrer is educated on how to submit exactly the way it needs to be submitted. 

NOTE: Reps are absolutely not allowed to enter referrals on behalf of someone else. Shift4 has emphasized this to us. You must educate your referrer, but do not take over the referral submission process from them or the referral may be blocked.

Referral Bonuses - Important Additional Notes:

  • Referral bonuses are awarded up to 90 days after the new merchant installs SkyTab/begins processing. 
  • It is important to note that a merchant cannot refer their own business and receive the 2k. 
  • Reps can't put their own family members in for the referral.
  • Reps can't put restaurant owner family members in for a referral.
  • Someone will only get one 2k referral for one owner, so if it's a 5 location deal under the same owner they'll only get 2k not 5 2ks.
  • This referral bonus is only for FULL POS deals.
  • All referrals with the "approved" status still must undergo an internal review to ensure that the new merchant satisfies the referral program criteria (outlined in our terms here) before we initiate payouts.
  • Referral partners with approved referrals need to have PayPal accounts, as that is the only way that Shift4 can issue the payouts under the Referral Rock platform. They do not send ACH payments to the referrer's bank accounts. The PayPal account should match the login information for Referral Rock, otherwise we need to be notified of a different email address. 
  • Payouts will be issued on the 20th of each month. This payout timeline is also based upon when the referral partner completes and submits their W9, so it is important for them to complete that ASAP.
  • Deposits will be deposited into whichever bank account entered into the Impact account finance settings. Referral partners won't be receiving the deposit directly from Shift4, it goes through Impact (the referral platform). 
  • Creating multiple accounts is not advised as it causes confusion on Shift4's end. If your merchant gets locked out of their account, have them follow the process for creating a new password. If your merchant completes a password reset but is still having trouble logging in, contact Equip's referral liaison (currently [email protected]). 
  • As soon as a MID is issued it's too late if the referral isn't assigned to you.
  • If you hit submit on an application before the lead is assigned to you it's too late!!! Make sure you get the email that says "(Restaurant Name) is assigned to you and your referral partner" and then you know you are good to submit.

Note from Shift4: "The referring party needs to ensure that they have submitted all banking information and tax documents in their Impact account. Once the funds are transferred from us to the referral partners (via Impact), it is out of our hands. If they has submitted all necessary documents and info and still hasn't received the deposit into their bank account, they will need to contact Impact directly - as they are the ones who have the visibility into depositing the funds. Please ensure they have uploaded their bank information and tax documents and if they need further assistance they will need to create a ticket with Impact."
